Engine #24 along with three other engine companies were dispatched to assist Station #23 with gas main leak. Construction crews using an underground boring machine for cable instillation punctured a 12" gas main and a sewer line allowing the gas to charge the sewers and fill the houses. Shortly after firefighters started evacuating houses near the leak, two houses directly across from the leak exploded violently.
