Not many fire departments in this country run a piece of fire equipment like our light & salvage. This truck was designed with the idea that you can go to a fire or disaster and clean up and secure the area involved. When this unit is dispatched to the scene of a structure fire it's job is to secure and protect all belongings not consumed by fire by placing large tarps over them. This helps keep water damage to a minimum. We also clean the area after the fire is out by removing burned furniture, building materials (like ceilings that get pulled down) and remove excess water from areas not damage by fire. To secure the structure we carry plywood to board up first floor windows and doors and plastic sheeting for covering all other openings.

This truck is also equipped to handle flooded buildings. It carries trash pumps, submersible pumps and also is equipped with a vacuum unit similar to one found on a carpet cleaning van. The vacuum or suck unit is made up of two 50 gallon tanks, a 5hp. gasoline motor, vacuum pump, 200ft. of 1 1/2" pool hose and a wand. We use the suck unit primarily for carpeted areas flooded by broken water lines in the winter, sprinkler heads and basements flooded from excessive rains.

This truck can also light up any scene with it's twin light towers The towers extend up 25ft. pivot 360 degrees and tilt up or down. This is great for fire scenes, staging areas and disaster command centers.
